Dog names

By geoffbaron

We are discussing the possibility of getting a dog. When you get a dog you are given the awesome responsibility of naming that dog.

A friend of ours recently got a dog and named it “Norman”. I know.. that is going to be hard to beat.

I think we might need some help.

Here is my list so far:

Musket (Emily suggested “Muska” if it’s a girl.. very feminine)
Cannon (I wanted Ethan’s name to be Cannon but it didn’t fly)
Chainsaw (No, not really)
Odin
AK47 (Will probably shorten it to “fordysev’n” for the kids)

Here is Amy’s list:

Tess
Phoebe
Elanor
Dagger
Napalm

Yeah, I told her that napalm was probably inappropriate but she insisted.

So far our pet names have been thus:

Flappy (A bird we rescued, KIA: Internal bleeding)
Pinchy (A fiddler crab, KIA: fell apart)
Mao (A bearded dragon, named after the Chinese Communist leader, MIA: Given to a good home)
Budgie (A budgie, KIA: Cat (it was gruesome))

Any ideas?

um, I used to know someone who wanted to name their first retarded son Axel and the second one Gunner, so I always think of those as good pet names. Norman is pretty amazing, I used to have a stuffed dog named Norman, so I like that one.

Our cat’s name is Fergus. I grew up with pets named after historical figures (Sherlock, Shakespeare and Napoleon).

    Have fun with the pup!

Cities in foreign countries always seemed to inspire our dog names. Also food. We once had a dog named Biscuit. Best dog ever.

My brother has a massive purebred rottweiler named Daisy. If you got a lap dog you could name it Hog, or Skull or something. No wonder most of your pets are KIA, they all sound weak. Give us some more to go on, what kind of dog, pitbull? doberman? german shepherd?

We are getting a Miniature Australian Shepherd….so maybe and Aussie name?

  8. pw Says:

Aussie name, eh…I vote for Mad Max then.

Please name your dog Muska…. I know she probably didn’t intend it to be a reference to the famous skateboarder/beat dropper, but you could pretend it is. This is a guy who once named his signature skateboard the “Chadillac Muskalade”; if that doesn’t get your respect, I don’t know what will.
