Book Idea

By geoffbaron

I think it would be a good idea for someone to right a book about the rapture from the perspective of non-Christians. I think there would be lots of fun topics to cover.. like who has disappeared and why.. and who hasn’t… some people would be horrified and some would be thrilled at the idea of having all the Christians gone. I can imagine whole congregations arguing that the rapture could not have happened because they didn’t lose a single member… while many of the homeless population disappeared. But ultimately, I think it would be fun to see humanity suddenly wake up and realize that there is officially no meaning to life. What seemed like a good thing at first.. not having those horrible Christians around.. would slowly dissolve into weeping and gnashing of teeth as the world becomes a giant burning hulk of desolation.

At the very least.. it would be fun to research it.

Hmm… fun might be a strong word for what you’re getting at here.

This post reminds me of a freaky movie about the rapture that I’m sure caused many in our junior high youth group to get right with God. It was sort of a 70’s flick and all I remember is a terrible sinking feeling as I saw an abandoned lawn mower mowing along and an electric razor buzzing eerily in a sink. Yikeser! If I hadn’t previously gotten saved during the summer camp when I had my underwear frozen, I would have definitely gotten saved after the scary rapture movie. :)

    FOR PRETRIB RAPTURE REPEATERS

Congratulations! You are now fulfilling the Bible which says “Come now, and let us repeat together.”
Be sure to repeat what Walvoord, Lindsey, LaHaye, Ice etc. repeat what their own teachers repeat what their own teachers repeat etc. etc. etc.!
Repeat that Christ’s return is imminent because we’re told to “watch” (Matt. 24, 25) for it. So is the “day of God” (II Pet. 3:12) – which you admit is at least 1000 years ahead – also imminent because we’re told to be “looking for” it?
Also repeat the pretrib myths about the “Jewish wedding stages” and “Jewish feasts” (where’s your “church/Israel dichotomy” now?) even though Christ and Paul knew nothing about a “pretrib stage” and neither did any official theological creed or organized church before 1830!
You should read “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty” on the “Powered by Christ Ministries” site to find out why you shouldn’t repeat everything your pretrib teachers repeat.
Do I have to repeat this?

(the above web piece about the 179-year-old rapture delusion has some ideas for a possible book! Jill)
